Visual Arts

Creative Expressions believes that the visual arts provide opportunities for self-expression and creativity. The art house features a two room gallery with professional display systems to showcase the artwork created in the art classes. The visual arts program focuses on
  • Developing individual artists’ skills who have expressed interest in the visual arts program.
  • Promoting and marketing individual artists who have displayed extraordinary talent in the arts.
    • Many of our artists are active in various community art events and competitions such as The Oconee Artist Exhibition, Deep Roots Festival, No Limits Art Show, and Georgia Artists with DisAbilities Art Show. These opportunities have brought statewide exposure to their work, along with numerous awards.

Mixed Media Art Classes:

Artists explore a variety of mediums including painting, drawing, printmaking, charcoal, pastels, collages, and watercolor.

Jewelry Making:

Artists create necklaces, bracelets, and other jewelry pieces with as much independence as possible. Participants create their own designs and patterns, or may be guided in the process in order to work on cognitive skills. We encourage our artist to explore making their own beads from clay and other materials.

Fiber Arts:

Artists create quilts using hand-stitching and a sewing machine, crochet blankets, throws, aprons, string art, and other projects using fiber materials.

Something Spruced:

Artists create new and extraordinary pieces of art by using repurposed everyday objects and natural elements such as clay, tile, barn wood, saw mill scraps, recycled paper and canvas, discarded bottles, and other materials. These artists’ works are featured and sold at local and statewide festivals. Something Spruced made its debut in the fall of 2017 at the Deep Roots Festival held annually in Milledgeville, GA. Each year an artist is selected to be featured at this event.
