LEC @ Home
LEC @ Home is the name of the program the LEC offered to individuals who were sheltered in place during the COVID-19 shutdowns of 2020 and 2021. This program allowed individuals to stay connected to the center, staff, students, and each other. Services and programs offered included creative art kits, music, exercise, health, entertainment, education, and community exploration. Art kits, musical instruments, technology—such as tablets and laptops, and nutritional kits were checked out and supplied to those at home so that they were be able to participate from the safety of their homes but at the same time staying connected together through online satellite services. Staff also aided in technology support as needed. Individuals also had additional opportunities to participate in such as drive-thru events and staff drop-bys. These events included a hotdog cookout drive-thru, a Christmas celebration, birthday spotlights, Valentine's Day roses delivered, and custom-made donuts dropped of. GC interns and practicum students were also able to work with staff to customize their online schedules so that they could offer more programming to those at home. These programs included personal fitness, painting, and community content.
